Nick Johnson, a 2007 San Lorenzo Valley High graduate and two-year starter on the Cabrillo College football team, signed a full-ride scholarship this week to play wide receiver for Division II Henderson State University.

Bechtel catches fire at Dad’s Club

San Lorenzo Valley High junior Blake Bechtel sank five three pointers and scored 39 points in leading the Cougars to the consolation championship over Watsonville, 74-53, in the 54th annual Dad’s Club tournament at the Civic Auditorium in Santa Cruz last weekend.

Over-the-counter cough and cold medications to alleviate cold symptoms in young children are being largely withdrawn from pharmacy shelves. This is because of unintentional misuse or overdose of these medications causing harm and, rarely, death, especially in children younger than 2.
