A memorial reception is planned July 7 for longtime Boulder Creek resident Richard A. Lemon, who died June 19 with his children by his side. He was 89.
Mr. Lemon was born in Salinas, a third-generation Californian and part of a family that traces its lineage to the Sons of the American Revolution.
He studied chemistry at University of California, Berkeley, and worked in the Bay Area all his life. He operated a toxicology laboratory and was a keenly observant and intellectually curious man who enjoyed lifelong learning, according to relatives. His family and friends remember him as being never in a rush, gifted with a quick wit, strong opinions and dry humor.
He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Lemon of Lafayette and Elizabeth Lemon of Palo Alto; his son, Richard Lemon of Palo Cedro; and five grandchildren.
