Scotts Valley resident Robert O. Gosswiller died last week. He was 91.
Mr. Gosswiller was born in Chicago. As a young man he travelled cross country and camped in the meadows of Yosemite Valley. He enlisted in the Army for WWII and served in the signal corps in Luzon, New Guinea, and at the liberation of the Southern Philippines. He graduated from University of California, Los Angeles with an electrical engineering degree and worked for IBM until he retired. He was an active member of the fraternal organization Sons in Retirements.
He married the love of his life Elizabeth Jeanne Van Dorn in 1948 who preceded him in death last year. His creative outlets included jewelry making, building pottery, and writing poetry. Family said he was a deeply romantic person at heart, a peacemaker, and always joyful, with a twinkle in his eyes.
He is survived by his sons Robert Gosswiller Jr. of Arizona, Ric Gosswiller and his wife Paulette of Waldport, Ore., and Ron Gosswiller and his wife Brigid of Felton; five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
