The Mountain Maulers roller derby team in Boulder Creek hopes to find a covered practice facility the team can use 2 to 3 nights a week to conduct their weekly practices. The Maulers team is made up of 27 women from the San Lorenzo Valley area. The team formed this year and has practiced outdoors on the Boulder Creek Elementary School tennis courts.
“We have a very committed group of girls here that just want to keep this thing rolling,” said team captain Shana Kerr. “The Boulder Creek Elementary School has been kind enough to lend us their tennis courts as a practice facility, but as the rains hit us and the nights get longer we are growing desperate for something covered and well lit.”
The team is actively in the hunt for a warehouse or barn with concrete or linoleum flooring that they could rent a few nights a week. The practice facility would ideally be somewhere between Boulder Creek and Scotts Valley. Team leaders say the women and their families are willing to professionally modify an existing floor if needed. The team is able to pay a modest rental fee.
Kerr asks that anyone with an open beam warehouse or barn collecting dust e-mail either

The team has not yet scheduled any “bouts” with other roller derby teams, but needs a facility to help keep the team working through the winter.
