Braves 13, Giants 6
In a game to decide the SLV major’s champion, the Braves Tanner Murray scored when Thomas Moore hit his first home run of the season. Jackson Turner doubled and was knocked in by Howard Forehan’s single. Forehan came in on Remi Dirck’s double. Forehan doubled in two more runs in the second and scored on Taj Yanez single. The Giants scored two in the first on Max Crandall’s one-out double and Mark Carling ripped an RBI single later. The Braves move on to the District 39 Tournament of Champions.
TOC Majors Division:
Pajaro Valley Cubs 10, SLV Braves 6
In the first round of the double-elimination Tournament of Champions, the Hermosillo brothers of Pajaro Valley Cubs each homered to pull away from the Braves and they pitched and struck out a combined 15 batters.
Down 6-1 in the fourth, the Braves rebounded with a singles from Taj Yanez, Tanner Murray and Thomas Moore. In the sixth, Murray, Moore and Jackson Turner helped score three more runs.
Braves 9, Santa Cruz American Orioles 7
After the Orioles scored 4 runs in the sixth to tie the game, the contest was postponed, starting with play in the 7th inning. Cody Peterson pitched three-plus innings for the win, avoiding jams in the 7th and 8th 10th innings and Hans Suwinski and Mateo Ballas scored the eventual winning runs to keep the Braves alive in the TOC.
TOC Minors Division
SLV Braves 11, Watsonville Angels 1
Chris Anderson led the way with three hits including a single, a double, and an inside-the-park home run shot. He threw five innings and gave three hits. Craig Yeomans was 3-for-3 with a single and two doubles and three runs.
The Braves shined on defense, starting with shortstop Vinnie Prograce’s diving catch of a popup in the first.
