Santa Cruz County will move to the orange tier of the state’s reopening plan tomorrow, the county confirmed in a press release today.
The orange-tier status that takes effect at midnight tonight will mean retail can operate at full capacity. Restaurants, places of worship, movie theaters and museums can increase indoor operations to 50% capacity.
Here are other changes that will come starting tomorrow:
- Bars, breweries and distilleries will be allowed to resume outdoor operations
- Wineries may resume indoor operations at 25% capacity or 100 people (whichever is fewer)
- Gyms and fitness centers may increase indoor capacity 25%
- Indoor pools may open
- Amusement parks, indoor entertainment centers like bowling alleys, and live-audience outdoor events may open with modifications
On Thursday, amusement parks may allow in-state visitors, with capacity limited to 25%. A limited number of Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk rides will reopen beginning April 1. Reservations are open through April 11 and can be made at beachboardwalk.com.
“While transmission rates locally look positive and the County remains a leader in per capita vaccinations within the state, coronavirus cases are increasing globally and the B.1.1.7 variant has recently been found within Santa Cruz County,” the county noted in its press release today. “Vaccinated and unvaccinated residents are advised to continue wearing masks and practicing social distancing while in public.”
