In the spirit of the upcoming Big Game, Santa Cruz County Parks is bringing families together through sport with three Punt, Pass & Kick events during the first week of February.

Designed for all ages—from preschoolers to grandparents—these high-energy, free events invite participants to learn new skills and show off their talent. Each event—including one featuring former 49ers kicker Joe Nedney—will feature a series of fun and accessible agility stations, including a broad jump, 40-yard dash and classic punt, pass and kick trials.

“Whether you’re trying something new or testing your skills, there’s something for everyone,” organizers said.

Participants can also look forward to prizes and giveaways, thanks to community partners that include Kick Off Santa Cruz, Pacific Cookie Company, Hwy 17 Studios and the San Francisco 49ers.

Each event will take place from 4-6pm on the following dates and locations:

  • Tuesday, Feb. 3: Mesa Village County Park, 790 Green Valley Road, Watsonville;
  • Wednesday, Feb. 4: Brommer Street County Park, 1451 30th Ave., Santa Cruz; and
  • Thursday, Feb. 5: Highlands County Park, 500 Highway 9, Ben Lomond.

Nedney will attend the Brommer Street Park event. In addition to football-themed activities, attendees can enjoy free giveaways courtesy of the San Francisco 49ers and free cookies provided by Pacific Cookie Company, while supplies last.

Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and arrive early to take full advantage of the activities and giveaways. No registration is required; participants can simply stop by and join the fun.

Attendees can also learn more about 49ers Flag, a fast-growing, non-contact football program for girls and boys ages 5-17. The program emphasizes physical activity, continuous play, teamwork and the fundamentals of football in a safe and inclusive environment. Community members curious about flag football are encouraged to attend, learn more and get a hands-on feel for the sport.
