Santa Cruz County is all about its art, and Image Crafters, a collective of photographers based in Santa Cruz County who share a passion for the power of the printed image, are thrilled to bring their imagery to life at “Through Our Eyes 2025,” an upcoming photography exhibition at the R. Blitzer Gallery in Santa Cruz.

This vibrant showcase highlights the vision and artistry of eight outstanding local photographers, featuring a diverse collection of images that capture the beauty, character and spirit of the community—and beyond.

Unlike in the CODA (Community of Digital Artists) exhibit that the Press Banner covered in April, this show allows each artist to have a wall segment for their themed collection of images, and each of those sub-exhibits has roughly 10-15 images.

“As a result, this exhibit is larger in image count than the CODA exhibit, but with only eight artists participating. We’re confident it will be an exciting exhibit,” said artist Mark Overgaard, one of the participants in the event.

With this group exhibition, the collective celebrates the timeless art of photographic prints—how they preserve moments, evoke emotion and tell stories in a single frame. Each artist brings their own perspective, style and expertise to a thoughtfully curated portfolio, resulting in a dynamic and visually compelling exhibition.

As a playful addition, one gallery wall is dedicated entirely to the color yellow—featuring a contribution from each artist, along with a nod of approval from none other than Vincent Van Gogh himself.

Participating artists are: Annelies de Kater, Kathy Edwards, Larry Herzberg, Robert Mahrer, Keith Munger, Kevin Osborn, Mark Overgaard and Michael Singer.

“Through Our Eyes 2025” runs from Aug. 21 through Sept. 27 at the R. Blitzer Gallery. The exhibit is open to the public Thursdays through Saturdays from 1-4pm, with additional visits available by appointment.

Visitors are invited to attend the First Friday reception on Sept. 5 from 4-7pm, and the closing reception will be held on Sept. 27 from 1-4pm. The gallery, located at 2801 Mission St. in Santa Cruz, offers free admission.
