Residents are invited to workshops this month to give input on a county-wide scenic trail network that is planned for Santa Cruz County.
The Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission is in the midst of planning for the Monterey Bay Sanctuary Scenic Trail Network and is looking for ideas from the public.
The Scenic Trail Network project will merge plans for a pedestrian trail along the coastal rail line with existing trails. The network of trails will overlap and converge with paths currently in use to provide multiple route choices.
The RTC said the trail will serve transportation, recreation and interpretive uses for pedestrians and cyclists.
The workshops will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on the following days:
**Dec. 13: Pacific Elementary School, 50 Ocean St., in Davenport
**Dec. 14: Simpkins Family Swim Center, 979 17th Ave., in Santa Cruz
n Dec. 15: Watsonville Civic Building Community Room, 275 Main St., on the fourth floor in Watsonville
Those in attendance will hear a presentation about the scope of the project and have the chance to review detailed maps of the preliminary plans. Questions and comments for the Master Plan will be accepted. A draft is expected to be release during the summer. An environmental review document that complies with the California Environmental Quality Act will also be prepared with the Master Plan.
