Guerin

A 51-year-old Live Oak man employed by Scotts Valley Unified School District was arrested Jan. 27 based on allegations of lewd and lascivious acts toward a child and will be arraigned next week.
Carl Guerin was arrested by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office on two felony counts of lewd and lascivious acts toward a person younger than 14 years old.
He is scheduled to be arraigned at 8:15 a.m. Feb. 15 in Dept. 7 of Santa Cruz County Superior Court in Santa Cruz.
Guerin is listed as the director of technology for Scotts Valley Unified School District on the district website. An Internet search found that he advertises himself as a technology consultant in online phone directories.
Scotts Valley Superintendent Penny Weaver said Tuesday, Feb. 5, that Guerin has been on leave since district officials learned of his arrest. She would not comment any further.
Sheriff’s office spokeswoman April Skalland declined to discuss specifics of the case, because investigators fear that releasing more information would identify the alleged victim.
“I can’t really talk about it, to protect the victim,” Skalland said.
Investigators declined to say whether the alleged crimes occurred while Guerin was on the job or at other times.
Anyone with information about the case can contact the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office investigations division at 831-454-2311.
