
The Scotts Valley boys’ basketball team recorded an 0-3 record during the 69th Emmett Thompson Memorial Dad’s Club Basketball Tourney at Kaiser Permanente Arena in Santa Cruz this past weekend.
Senior forward Alex Burgos finished with a team-best eight points in the Falcons’ 70-34 loss to San Luis Obispo on Dec. 6. Teammate senior Johnny Miller had seven points, while senior Luke Bradley added six for Scotts Valley.
Senior Braeden Dickenson had a team-best nine points in the Falcons’ 73-37 loss to Central Catholic of Modesto on Dec. 5.
Senior Oak Silingas had 11 points in Scotts Valley’s 71-45 loss to Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League rival Santa Cruz in the teams’ opening game on Dec. 4.
Scotts Valley (1-4) will compete at the 77th Annual Carmel Invitational on Dec. 18.
San Lorenzo Valley 59, At Yerba Buena 36: Wyatt Himmelstrup and Ian Patrick LeBarre each hauled in seven rebounds in the Cougars’ convincing win over the Aztec Warriors in non-league action Dec. 3.
SLV (4-3) will compete in the 45th Annual Bob Hagen Memorial Tournament at Gilroy High starting on Thursday.
Girls’ basketball
At San Lorenzo Valley 58, Alvarez 33: Taylor Kievlan had seven rebounds, six assists and four steals in the Cougars’ non-league win against the Eagles on Dec. 1.
Jordan Lewis racked up 11 rebounds for SLV, while teammate Alyssa Best added five rebounds. SLV (2-0) hosts Pacific Collegiate (3-2) in non-league action on Wednesday at 5:30pm.
At Scotts Valley 54, North Monterey County 13: Hanna Shehorn and Isabelle Jas each had 15 points in the Falcons’ blowout win over the Condors at the Jacob’s Heart Pediatric Shootout on Dec. 6.
Teammate Sammy Rebbert contributed 12 points, while Brooklyn Williams added nine points. Lyla Rebbert had three points for Scotts Valley (4-0), which will compete at the King’s Academy Tournament starting on Thursday.
Girls’ soccer
San Lorenzo Valley 1, at Stevenson 0: Kendyl Richardson notched her first goal of the season to help lift the Cougars past the Pirates in non-league action Dec. 3.
Teammate Dahlia Cardenas was credited with the assist for SLV (2-1), which hosts St. Francis in non-league play on Thursday at 3:30pm.
San Lorenzo Valley 1, at North Monterey County 0: Phoebe Owens recorded a late goal in the second half in the Cougars’ defeat against the Condors in non-league play Dec. 2. Teammate Jenna Stover had four saves for SLV.
At Pacific Collegiate 1, Scotts Valley 0: Piper Garrett scored in the opening minute to help lift the Pumas over the Falcons in non-league play Dec. 6.
Senior goalkeeper Jazzelyn Phillips had one save in the first half for Scotts Valley, while teammate junior Marilyn Talamantes tallied a pair of saves in the second half.
Scotts Valley (0-3) plays at The King’s Academy in non-league action on Friday at 4pm.
At Valley Christian 2, Scotts Valley 0: The Warriors knocked in a pair of second-half goals en route to victory over the Falcons in non-league play Dec. 4.
