After a year and a half of planning, ground finally broke Monday, April 23 on the Woodside project, as crews began demolishing the empty buildings of the former RVs of Merritt dealership to clear way for the residential and commercial development on Scotts Valley Drive.
The activity comes on the heels of a 5-0 vote by the Scotts Valley City Council last Wednesday night, April 18, to approve the final plans for the project, led by San Jose-based developer Jim Sullivan.
The plans have been in development since January 2011, after the council narrowly approved the project following nearly two months of controversy over drainage, easement and parking concerns.
Once completed, the development will include 50 single-family townhouses, three commercial buildings, as well as accompanying infrastructure and soil work.
