On Wednesday, Feb. 18, Scotts Valley residents, as well as civic and educational leaders gathered to mark the official grand opening of the long-awaited Shugart Park pathway and footbridges — connecting Siltanen Park to Scotts Valley High School on Glenwood Drive.
The project makes it possible for pedestrians and cyclists to safely travel from the Scotts Valley High School and the surrounding neighborhood to Vine Hill Elementary School via a new pathway through the future site of Shugart Park.
According to a news release, the project includes two steel structure bridges expanding the riparian corridors, a new paved pathway through the undeveloped areas and sidewalks along Vine Hill School Road and a portion of Tabor Drive.
Families, joggers and school children can now safely travel the pathway through Siltanen Park from Glenwood Drive to Scotts Valley Drive and Tabor Drive without using the heavily traveled roadway.
