The Scotts Valley High School girls soccer team earned the 2011-2012 league title and netted seven of the top honors on the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League all-league team. Senior captain Jordin Carlson was crowned the Most Valuable Player in the SCCAL for her outstanding play as a defender for the Falcons stingy defense.
The Falcons allowed just two goals in league action this season behind the stellar play Emily Johnson and Carlson’s keen perception of the defensive field.
For her efforts, Johnson was named Goalkeeper of the Year in the SCCAL.
Johnson snatched 74 saves in league play and helped the Falcons cast nine shutouts in league, and twelve on the season.
Falcons Head Coach Art Munoz was awarded the Coach of the Year honors for leading his team to their second SCCAL title in a row. Munoz has been with the school since its inception and has proven invaluable to the girls soccer program which has earned the respect of their peers throughout the Central Coast Section and helped the SCCAL earn its A-league status that helps all the local teams with CCS power points.
Other players from Scotts Valley earning first team all-SCCAL honors include Emily Payne, Ranae Maloney, Madison Black, Taylor Rohde and Sonja Gustafsson.
Boys Soccer
Brenny Hillan was crowned the SCCAL’s Goalkeeper of the Year as the Falcons finished the season in second place behind Santa Cruz High. Hillan saved 72 shots and is joined on the first team by teammates Noah Beito, Nathan Keane, Edgar Pedroza and Matt Seligmann.
Girls Basketball
Natalia Ebrahemian led the SCCAL in scoring this season and earned a place on the counties first team all SCCAL squad. Ebramenian averaged 20.4 points a game and led all the counties scorers. She along with second team star Nadene Hart and third team Angela Silver helped lead the Falcons to a 18-8 overall record and 8-4 in the SCCAL for third place. Scotts Valley’s Autumn Guidice-Murphy and San Lorenzo Valley’s Maddy Prader earned honorable mentions.
Boys Basketball
Scotts Valley’s Jack Pasquini was named to the second team all-SCCAL boy’s basketball team. Garrett Johnson of Scotts Valley and from SLV Billy Mullins and Eric Lange were named as honorable mentions to the all-league teams.
