The annual Scotts Valley Christmas Tree Lighting Festival will take place at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Scotts Valley Community Center, 360 Kings Village Road.
The event is presented by the Scotts Valley Chamber of Commerce as a major fundraiser for Valley Churches United Missions.
Attendees are encouraged to show up with “arms loaded with cans of food for those less fortunate this Christmas.”
Festivities include greetings by the Vine Hill Service Club and a flag ceremony by a local Boy Scout troupe. Christmas carols will be led by the musical team from Gateway Bible Church, followed by music by the Scotts Valley High School Chorale, Vine Hill Service Club and more.
Santa will arrive atop a Scotts Valley Fire Department engine, and children will have a chance to have their photo taken with Mr. Claus.
Food and cash donations may be exchanged for a cup of soup at the community center.
