
Scotts Valley juniors Samantha Rebbert and Brooklyn Williams were each named the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League’s Most Valuable Players for the 2024-25 girls’ basketball season.
Rebbert had an average of 11.5 points, 6.5 steals, 3.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game, while Williams finished with averages of 11.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 2.0 assists per contest this season.
Scotts Valley head coach Stu Hurvitz was recognized as the league’s Coach of the Year by his peers within the SCCAL. He led Scotts Valley to a 24-3 overall record along with both regular season and tournament league championships, going 12-0 against league opponents this season.
Rebbert and Williams also earned All-SCCAL First Team honors along with teammates sophomore Hanna Shehorn and senior Claire Skinner. Other all-league first team selections included Aptos junior Abbi Sherwood, and Santa Cruz sophomore Mila Conn and junior Kina Espinosa.
Shehorn had an average of 8.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.8 steals per game, while Skinner finished with averages of 9.6 rebounds and 7.3 points per contest this season. Ashby led the Mariners with an average of 12.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 1.9 assists per game.
