Janice and Paul Seals, San Lorenzo Valley residents since 1967, marked their 50th wedding anniversary in April.
Fifty one years ago, Janice Sheppard drove her MGA from Woodward, Iowa, to Fullerton to start teaching at Crescent Junior High School in Anaheim. At the same time, Paul Seals, who had recently returned from a tour of duty in Turkey with the Army, returned to teaching at Crescent Junior High.
They met each other at a teachers meeting a week before the 1961 school year started, and Paul asked Janice on a date. She taught typing in Room A, and he taught industrial arts in Room B. They were married April 14, 1962.
The Sealses moved to San Lorenzo Valley in 1967. Paul taught at San Lorenzo Valley Junior High School for many years and was counselor for 17 years before retiring in 1996. Janice taught and helped raise their three sons, Ron, Greg and Brock, who all graduated from SLV High School and California State University, Chico. The couple has lived in Ben Lomond for 41 years.
To celebrate their 50th anniversary, the couple recently returned from a monthlong vacation and cruise in the Mediterranean. They visited Spain, Italy, Greece, Croatia and Turkey.
