A portion of Mount Hermon Road between Felton and Scotts Valley will be closed in both directions until this afternoon after a semi-truck lost control and partially tipped over along the roadway.
The driver of a semi-truck towing a 50-foot Rite Aid trailer westbound toward Scotts Valley, drove off the roadway and crashed into the hillside and a power pole at 9:28 a.m., according to a California Highway Patrol Officer on the scene.
The roadway is closed in both directions while a tow truck arrives on the scene to extract the truck from hillside where it came to rest.
The truck appeared to have come from Felton and crashed at the bottom of a hill, just past Locatelli Lane.
The driver was unharmed, but the cab of the truck smashed into the power pole and the ground after the truck tilted sideways at what appeared to be a 45 degree angle.
The cause of the accident is under investigation, but it appeared that it was caused by “slippery roads, just going too fast,” according to a CHP officer on the scene.
Five customers at the 1600 block of Mount Hermon Road lost electricity, according to PG&E.
Scotts Valley Police blocked Mount Hermon Road at Lockhart Gulch, while the roadway was also closed in Felton by CHP officers.
