EDITOR,
On Aug. 28 I had a very bad accident. Looking at the photos, it’s a wonder I survived.
My car left the roadway, hit trees, rolled and landed upright, 30 feet down a gully. When the windows blew out, my dog ran for her life and if I could have, I would have been right there with her. She was missing for two days.
I don’t remember much about that day, or the next, but I’m told I was helped by some
remarkable folks. The large purple spot in the middle of my forehead tells my doctor I must have hit my head, though my husband, Craig, says I denied it at the time. She also told me the two days of amnesia means there was a severe concussion.
I would like to thank everyone who was there at the scene (Bear Creek Road at Lover’s
Lane), all those people who helped me, though I don’t remember a single face.
Thank you to the gentleman from the truck behind me who climbed into my vehicle and held my head up until help came, the Boulder Creek Fire Department who extricated me from my car, the folks who carried me up the 30-foot embankment (I’m no feather), the MedEvac and LifeFlight crews and to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Stanford Medical Trauma Center.
To my friend Phyllis and Mr. Bautista, who put us in the right place at the right time to find Hope and bring her home and then refused to take a reward, Thank you!
Angels do walk among us. They are our neighbors and friends. Thank you, all of you, for your help. May God bless each and every one of you.
