EDITOR,
On behalf of Valley Churches United Missions and the Marcum Family, we would like to thank all the wonderful people who stepped up to help VCUM and the family during our recent journey through the illness and passing of our director, Annette Marcum.
Thank you to all who planned her Celebration of Life: Fr. Mike of St. John’s; Fr. Bob and Fr. Clark of St. Michael’s, and all of our local clergy, as well as Richard Determan, Andy Immel, Bruce McPherson, Wes Sims, Autumn and Simone Bushard, Konrad and Lisa Baumert, Barry Tanner, Jen Stroud, Mike Finley and Sara Pink.
Thank you to Scopazzi’s for completely handling the reception. Thanks to Ben Lomond and Scotts Valley Markets, Johnnie’s, New Leaf and especially Safeway for food trays.
Thank you to Bob, Carol and Rob Slawinski for hosting a memorial concert to raise much needed funds for Valley Churches United Missions. Many thanks to Lacy J. Dalton and her band of marvelous musicians. Many thanks to Sharon Allen and her bandmates for opening the show. Bruno’s BBQ supplied tasty treats.
Many thanks to the Sentinel and Press-Banner for media coverage of Annette’s biography and so many kind words.
As the Sentinel so aptly stated in a recent editorial “She was one of a kind and the best way to honor her memory is to ensure Valley Churches United Missions has the financial and service support to continue her work.”
While we know we will never fill her shoes, she has left such a well-oiled team and dedicated Board that is committed to carry on.
Thank you.
Linda S. Lovelace, VCUM
