The Skypark community came out to celebrate the Fourth of July on a warm morning for the annual Independence Day Kids Bike Parade in Scotts Valley.

Kids and bikes were led in the parade by Scotts Valley Police Chief Steve Walpole, who sat at the wheel of the department’s old-time cruiser. The parade was also escorted by a Scotts Valley Fire Department engine and a SVPD motorcycle and squad car.

Also in attendance was Scotts Valley City Council Member Donna Lind, who mingled with the crowd before the event, sharing stories of previous years’ parades.

Neighborhood children rode bikes and scooters decorated in red, white and blue, and local fire and police personnel passed out stickers and compliments for the creative decorations.
