Traffic is backed up on Mount Hermon Road toward Highway 17 this morning as Caltrans crews have closed a lane to complete a grinding and paving operation.

Caltrans work on the Mount Hermon Road Highway 17 onramp heading south toward Santa Cruz has slowed traffic on Mount Hermon Road this morning.
The work is expected to last until 3:30 p.m. with Scotts Valley Police reporting that motorists should take alternate routes if possible.
Caltrans spokesperson Susana Cruz said the work is regularly-scheduled maintenance that includes grinding and paving. The No. 2 lane is closed while the work is in progress.
Traffic was slowed Tuesday morning on eastbound Mount Hermon Road through Scotts Valley as commuters made their way toward Santa Cruz or onto Highway 17 northbound toward San Jose.
