SLV chamber launches ‘shop local’ app

The San Lorenzo Valley Chamber of Commerce has launched a free smartphone application as part of its Shop Local, Shop SLV First program.
In an effort that organizers hope will boost local business, customers will be able to search directory listings for stores and services by category or by deal on their smartphones.
“We understand that technology provides consumers with a greater array of choices,” Thomas Wynn, president of the SLV Chamber, said in a prepared statement. “We want local businesses to be able to present their offerings directly and electronically to locals so that more of that consumer revenue stays in the San Lorenzo Valley.”
The application is free and has fee-based upgrades for local businesses depending on their involvement.
The app gives customers a quick way to find businesses in the San Lorenzo Valley, including their addresses, phone numbers, websites, reviews and deals.
Chamber officials are reaching out to San Lorenzo Valley businesses to participate in the Shop Local programs. Businesses can also e-mail the chamber at in**@********er.org.
