A small fire ignited this afternoon on the corner of Conference Drive and Mount Hermon Road just outside of Scotts Valley.
The fire spread to about ¼ acre and burned brush and dry grass. It was fully contained within an hour and a nearby house was spared from any fire damage.
Firefighters from Scotts Valley Fire Protection District, County Fire, Felton Fire and inmates from the Ben Lomond Camp were on scene to contain the blaze.
Highs in Scotts Valley reached about 80 degrees today, with mild 5 to 8 mile-per-hour winds. It’s too early to say how the fire started.
