“Trials simply amplify what is in the heart” is the headline across the opening page of Jared Fujishin’s Web site, www.jfuji.com.
Why?
Because he believes it.
Fujishin self-recorded and produced his latest CD, “Desperate,” to spread the message that trials define who you are.
And he’s offering it for free.
“I don’t even care about the money,” Fujishin said. “I really like helping people. That’s where it’s at.”
Fujishin is offering a free download of his latest album on his Web site until July 1, when it will hit iTunes and can be downloaded for a fee.
The acoustic guitar-wielding Fujishin leads worship at Gateway Bible Church in Scotts Valley and has played worship music at churches and camps all around the county.
But music is not his only talent.
Fujishin, 17, was voted to be the student body president of Scotts Valley High for his senior year in the fall. He was also voted to be the California Scholarship Federation president at the school.
Fujishin paid for production of the CD by saving 80 percent of every paycheck he received working at Starbucks.
He recorded the CD at home and he has received letters encouraging him to continue spreading his Christian message.
Music from his CD was played on the local radio station KPIG (107.5 FM) on Easter, and Fujishin handed out copies of the album at his high school campus this spring.
“Everyone is going through something, and if not, they’re getting prepared,” Fujishin said. “It’s huge how you respond to trials.”
