Valley Gardens hole in one
Glenn Ely, of Aptos, hit his first hole in one on the fifth hole at Valley Gardens Golf Course on May 20. The 52 year old, Ely, used a 4-iron on the 181 yard hole and downed the ace witnessed by Scott Mosher, and Ray Franston.
PAL football, cheer, registration open
Registration is now open for the Scotts Valley Athletic Association Police Activity League Youth Recreational Football and Cheer Programs. Registration is open for football players, aged 6-14 and cheerleaders, aged 5-14. Discounted registration is available for those that register before June 1, and scholarships are available. Participation in the league is open to any child in Santa Cruz County. Practices begin July 25 at Scotts Valley High School.

Soccer camp on tap
Catalyst Soccer will host a special week of soccer development, June 20-24 at Skypark, in Scott’s Valley. The World Cup Soccer Developmental camps are open to all motivated young players who love the sport.
The camps emphasize age-appropriate skill development and include games that help young players reach new levels. There are two programs: Little Skillsbuilders (ages 4 to 6) and Super FUNdamentals (Ages 6 to14). For information: 423-3556 or go to www.catalystsoccer.com.
Cross Country team heads west
The San Lorenzo Valley cross country team is Hawaii-bound. The 2012 runners will compete in the King Kameahmeah challenge on the big island of Hawaii next fall. The team has already begun fundraising with a carwash and hopes to both play and perform well as they will stay on the island for four days and three nights.

A’s 7, Giants 6
The A’s Hagan Warner and Aden Rich each hit RBI singles. Joshua Forst then knocked in two more with a single. The Giants’ Elena Ballas then came around to score along with Aiden Largay, Noah Brown, Casey Crouch, and Colby Weikart, who all singled. Aiden Rich then threw two shutout innings to hold off the Giants, including avoiding a bases-loaded jam.
