Female wrestlers show at state
Freshman Dominique Parish finished in the top-12 with a 2-2 record at the girls California State Wrestling Championships held atLemooreHigh Schoolin Lemoore on Feb. 24 and 25. Parish, wrestling at 114 pounds, was the top finisher among herScottsValleyteammates. Juniors Shelby Baker, wrestling at 126 pounds, and Alicia Pitts, at 108 pounds, both competed in the meet while finishing 0-2 against the top competition in the state. Three hundred, thirty-six girls in 14 weight divisions participated in the meet.

SV beats Carlmont baseball
ScottsValleyHigh Schoolclobbered Carlmont 11-2 on Feb. 27 behind the hot bats of sophomore Joe Gillette and Drew Guidish. Gillette went 3-for-4 with two runs and two stolen bases. Guidish swatted two singles, earned a walk and scored twice.
John Varenkamp scored three times while teammate Ben Braverman knocked in three runs and pitched three innings of relief while allowing just one run.
Starter Zach Sorci earned the victory, striking out three and allowing two hits, a walk and a run.
