Water polo drops Harbor
The San Lorenzo Valley High School boys water polo team defeated Harbor High School, 9-6, Thursday, Oct. 4 at home. Jake Kersten led the way with making five saves as goalie in the first half and two goals on offense in the second half.
 
Football game rescheduled under the lights
The football game between San Lorenzo Valley High School and Scotts Valley High School has been rescheduled to Friday, Oct. 19, at Scotts Valley High under portable lights that will be brought to the field.
The junior varsity game will begin at 5 p.m. and varsity game at 7:30 p.m. at Scotts Valley High School. The game was previously scheduled for the next day.
 
Little League registration opens for spring
San Lorenzo Valley Little League will kick off registration for its spring 2012 season on Sunday, Oct. 21 at two locations. Registration will take place from noon to 4 p.m. at the San Lorenzo Valley High School little league field snack shack, 7105 Highway 9 in Felton and at Boulder Creek Elementary baseball field, 400 Lomond Street.
Children between ages 4 and 12 by April 30, 2013 are eligible to play. New players should bring a copy of their birth certificate.
Cost is $130 per player with sibling discounts. Online registration will open in several weeks. For information: www.slvlittleleague.org.
 
Youth basketball league approaches
Registration is open for the Mount Hermon Association youth basketball league. The league will take place in December and January.
Registration is $60 until Nov. 3 at www.mounthermon.org/recleagues.
The league is to players of any skill level in grades first to sixth. It will encourage the development of fundamental skills.
Along with learning and playing the game, players will experience a day of team-building on the ropes course.
Divisions will be co-ed and consist of first and second grader in a 3-on-3 half court game with a 9-foot rim. Co-ed third and fourth grades will play 4-on-4 on a short full court and the 5th and 6th grade league will have a boys division and a girls division, 5-on-5, full-court.
