When the 2015-16 academic year started, so did the sport competitions for our local High School teams. For Football, Girl’s Volleyball, Water Polo and Girl’s Golf, here is a ‘snapshot’ description of what has happened so far.
Football: Scotts Valley High School played their first game of the season in Los Banos. Falcons lost to the higher-ranked Tigers, 28-7 on Sept. 4th.
San Lorenzo Valley will play their first game on Saturday, September 12, against Homestead High School, in Felton.
Girl’s volleyball: both SVHS and SLVHS already have played two games. On September 3rd, SLVHS lost an away game to Santa Teresa, 3-1. SVHS also lost, to Lynbrook High School in San Jose, with the same score. In the following week SVHS rebounded, beating Santa Teresa High School 3-1 in San Jose, while Cougars lost, 3-0, at Monte Vista Christian High School in Watsonville.
Water polo: Playing in Monterey Bay League’s Pacific Division, both SLVHS boys and girl’s teams notched league wins vs. visiting Alvarez High School, respectively, 14-2 and 21-5.
Only SLVHS has a girl’s golf team this season. In their first game, played on home turf at Boulder Creek Golf and Country Club’s course, they lost a league match to visiting Aptos High, 187-167.
Tennis and cross country have not had any competitions to date.
