Youth football begins
The fall seasons for both San Lorenzo Valley Pop Warner football and cheerleading and the Scotts Valley Police Athletic League football and cheer programs are officially starting. SLV Pop Warner gets under way on Saturday, Aug. 1, and afternoon practices for Scotts Valley PAL football began Monday, July 27. The teams’ first games are Sept. 5 for SLV and Sept. 13 for Scotts Valley.

Fall Ball gearing up in SLV
Registration and tryouts are being set for San Lorenzo Valley Little League Off-season Fall Ball. Registration and tryout dates are scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 2, from 5 to 7 p.m., Aug. 9 from 5 to 7 p.m., Aug. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Aug. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All tryouts are at the San Lorenzo Valley High School Pony League field.
The cost is $40 per player and $30 per sibling. Players must have played one season of T-Ball. Players only have to attend one session. The tryout will include fielding three fly balls to the outfield and three grounders in the infield and receiving throws at first base. Players will then swing at three pitches and run the bases.
