
Cougar girls soccer team falls to Harbor
The San Lorenzo Valley High girls soccer team faced their toughest test of the season and fell 6-0 to host Harbor High on Dec. 20.
The team is 1-1 in Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League play after defeating St. Francis 3-0 in the opener Dec. 18.
The team will play host to Scotts Valley High at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 8.
Winter volleyball camp on tap
Volleyball coach Zoe Beltz will lead a winter volleyball camp at San Lorenzo Valley Middle School next week for middle school players.
Girls and boys from beginning to advanced skill levels can prepare for their school volleyball season with the three-day camp Jan. 2, 3, and 4.
Camp is from 10 a.m. to noon at the middle school gym, 7179 Hacienda Way, in Felton. Cost is $60.

SV girls hoops team wins
The Scotts Valley High girls basketball team improved to 4-5 in the preseason with a 58-29 win over Homestead High in Cupertino on Dec. 20.
Angela Silver and Nadene Hart led the way with 19 and 17 points, respectively, for the Falcons, who played again after press time Thursday, Dec. 27, at Bishop Montague High School in Reno.
The team opens the league season at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at Santa Cruz High School.
Santa Cruz Warriors win home opener
The Santa Cruz Warriors inaugurated the Kaiser Permanente Arena in downtown Santa Cruz with a 93-88 win over the Bakersfield Jam on Sunday, Dec. 23.
Kent Bazemore, on assignment from the Golden State Warriors, scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the team.
The team played after press time Thursday, Dec. 27, at home against the Springfield Armor.
The Warriors host the Armor again at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28. The game will be broadcast live on the radio at KION 1460 AM or 101.1 FM and via live stream at www.youtube.com/nbadleague.
