SLV boys hoops team wins two in San Diego
The San Lorenzo Valley High boys basketball team went 2-3 at the San Diego Surf n’ Slam tournament Dec. 27 to 29 in San Diego.
The Cougars lost to Xavier High School of Rochester, N.Y., 83-48 before bouncing back against New Norway School from Alabama 63-29 on Dec. 28 and finishing the tournament with a hard-fought 59-58 win over Sentinel Secondary School from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The team opened Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League competition after press time Wednesday, Jan. 2, against St. Francis High.
Next up, San Lorenzo Valley will play host to Harbor High at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4.
 
Falcon boys lose three
The Scotts Valley High boys basketball team dropped three games during the Condor Christmas Classic tournament Dec. 27 through Dec. 29.
The young squad lost 70-43 to North Monterey County on Dec. 27, 64-53 to Pajaro Valley on Dec. 28 and 61-49 to Anderson Union on Dec. 29.
The Falcons opened SCCAL play after press time Wednesday at Santa Cruz High School.
They play at home at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, against Soquel High.
