Bean Creek run this weekend
 
The third annual 5-mile Bean Creek run to support the Scotts Valley High School Falcon Club will take place Sunday, Oct. 20 in Scotts Valley.
The run, a major fundraiser for the school’s athletic program, will begin at the Scotts Valley Community Center, 360 Kings Village Road, in Scotts Valley at 8:30 a.m. The course will take runners up Bean Creek Road and then down Glenwood Drive to the finish line at Scotts Valley High School.
The race is open to all ages. Participants can register online for $30 at active.com. The top two male and female finishers will receive medals and $100 gift cards to Fleet Feet Sports.
 
SV volleyball downs SLV
The Scotts Valley girls volleyball team defeated San Lorenzo Valley 3-0 in Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League action on Thursday, Oct. 10.
Scotts Valley was led by Mikayla Fish who had nine kills in the 28-26, 25-21, 25-20 victory. Megan Lonhart had 31 assists for the Falcons, while Amber Bothman added four blocks and four aces.
