Falcons enter league 3-3-2
The Scotts Valley High School girls soccer team defeated Willow Glen 1-0 on Saturday, Dec. 21 to enter the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League season with a 3-3-2 record.
Against Willow Glen, sophomore Emmy Koflanovich scored the game winner off an assist from sophomore Aubrey Liebenberg.
Prior to that, the Falcons tied visiting Santa Teresa High on Friday, Dec. 19. In the game, Koflanovich scored twice to help the Falcons to the tie. Sophomore Brittany Cartee assisted both goals.
The Falcons open the league season at 3:30 p.m. January 7 at San Lorenzo Valley High School.
Maxwell to run in Scotland
San Lorenzo Valley senior Anna Maxwell has been invited to run at the BUPA Great Edinburgh Cross Country International Challenge in mid-January.
Maxwell’s expenses will be paid as she travels to Scotland as one of six runners around the world who were invited to run in the Junior Women category.
The 4-kilometer race will take place at Holyrood Park, Edinburgh.
Maxwell will run in the Junior Women’s category for runners 17-and-under. It will be one of eleven races on the day.
Maxwell is the defending CIF Division IV Cross Country Champion and finished 5th overall at the Foot Locker Nationals on December 14 in San Diego. She has committed to the University of Washington to run for the Huskies.
