SLV adult softball league crowns champs
The Mountain Mechanics defeated the previously unbeaten Steelheads, 24-22, on Nov. 8 to claim the A-league championship in the San Lorenzo Valley IOOF adult softball league. Mountain Mechanics defeated the Vagabonds, 16-4, in the earlier game to reach the title game.
In the B-league, Icy Hot capped their undefeated season by taking down Monty’s Log Cabin, 19-7, in the final Nov. 8 at Michael Gray Field. Monty’s reached the final by beating the Coyotes, 15-14, in the early game.
The league will resume in the summer.
Registration begins for SLV girls softball
Players can register this weekend for the 2010 San Lorenzo Valley Girls Softball league. Sign-ups will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Ben Lomond Fire Protection District, 9430 Highway 9, in Ben Lomond.
Players can also register online at www.slvgs.org.
League organizers also seek an upper-division representative and a clinics coordinator. To learn more about the positions, folks can speak to a board member or e-mail [email protected].
SV Little League sign-ups open online
In an effort to go green, Scotts Valley Little League offers players the choice to sign up and pay online for the 2010 season with no additional fee.
In-person registration will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, and Dec. 7 at the Vine Hill rec room, 151 Vine Hill School Road, in Scotts Valley.
Those who register before Jan. 1 will receive a $25-per-player discount. 
All players ages 8 through 12 must try out Jan. 9 and 16 at Siltanen Park.

Walk-in registration planned for SLV Little League
Registration for San Lorenzo Valley Little League opens this week. Early registration is $130 for one player (a $20 discount) and includes eight tickets to a San Jose Giants game.
Walk-in registration will be open at the following times and places:
• 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, Ben Lomond Fire Protection District, 9430 Highway 9, in Ben Lomond
• 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, San Lorenzo Valley High School staff room, 7105 Highway 9, in Felton
• 6 to 7 p.m. Dec. 2, San Lorenzo Valley High School staff room
• 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 3, Boulder Creek Elementary School, 400 W. Lomond St., in Boulder Creek
