SLV Middle School volleyball wins league
The San Lorenzo Valley Middle School seventh-grade volleyball team went undefeated with a 10-0 record, defeating New Brighton Middle School in the league tournament Wednesday, March 10.
According to coach April Beltz, the players showed strength in serving and hitting and kept their composure during tough rallies.
The team is Bailey Lotz, Caitlin Eggleston, Shannon Leontieff, Danielle Boro, Rhiannon Boro, Jocelyn Jones, Natalie Headley, Maia Graff, Maddy Vencill, Jade Prunella, Alicia Magliato and Tuesday Warneke.
SLV Little League opens Saturday
San Lorenzo Valley Little League opens its 2010 season at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 13, with opening day ceremonies and pictures before the first games in the afternoon.
The ceremonies will take place at the San Lorenzo Valley Little League field, 7105 Highway 9, in Felton.
The Scotts Valley Little League kicked off its season last weekend.
Senior bocce ball kicks off
Senior citizens are invited to sign up for the Scotts Valley senior bocce ball league season that begins March 29.
Sign-up sheets will be available at the Scotts Valley Senior Center, 370 Kings Village Road, for both new and returning players.
Free lessons are available to beginners, and players must be members of the senior center, which costs $15 a year to join.
Games are from 9:15 to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday.
