Spring soccer sign-ups ongoing
Boys and girls ages 4 through 12 can sign up online for the Scotts Valley-San Lorenzo Valley Soccer Club’s spring 4 vs. 4 soccer league.
The season runs March 13 through June 5, with practices on Fridays and games on Sundays. Late registration starts Feb. 1.

Scotts Valley girls top Harbor High
In basketball action, Liz Munger had 14 points in the first half and ended up leading the Falcon girls with 15 points as they beat Harbor High 65-25 on Friday, Jan. 7. Angela Silver scored 14 points, and Nicole Whitney added 10 points.
Cougar girls, boys fall to Cardinals
The Santa Cruz High girls basketball team toppled San Lorenzo Valley, 60-25, in Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League action.
Santa Cruz’s boys basketball team came out strong, as Beto Olmedo and Keith Williams finished with 11 points each and Santa Cruz beat SLV, 73-41, in Santa Cruz on January 7. Blake Bechtle, Jared Johnson and Luke Roberts tied for the Cougars’ team high score with nine points each.
Wrestlers take titles
Logan Kellogg continued his dominating season wrestling for San Lorenzo Valley High as he won the 191-pound weight class at the Apple Cider Classic wrestling tournament in Watsonville on Saturday, Jan. 8.
Sophomore teammate Michael Kraft claimed the first tournament win of his career in the 114-pound weight class.
Ben Landauer finished in third place for the Cougars, wrestling at 217 pounds.
