Scotts Valley Lacrosse romps
The Falcons lacrosse team defeated Harbor High School at the Harbor field winning 26-3 on April 26. Wesley Koenig led the Falcons offense with 5 goals, followed by Jake Rehnberg with 4 goals, Griffin Curtiss with 4 goals. Reza Dabir and Joe Locke both scored 3 goals and Collin Corbella and Joel Claassen each scored twice. Defensemen Cole Deblock, Scott Hunter and Nic White all scored, along with Bradley McClarnon.
Scotts Valley plays against Pacific Grove on Friday April 29.
Girls softball tryouts on top
Santa Cruz SPIN 16-and-under softball will hold a tryout for high school aged players who want to improve their softball skills this summer.
Tryouts will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 1 at San Lorenzo Valley High School, 7105 Highway 9 in Felton.

DARE Golf tourney approaches
The Scotts Valley Peace Officers Association will host the 14th annual D.A.R.E. Golf Tournament fundraiser. The tournament will take place Friday, May 20 at Valley Gardens Golf Course, 263 Mt. Hermon Road in Scotts Valley.
Registration begins at 6:45 a.m. and the shotgun start time is 7:30 a.m. The cost is $60 per person.

Falcons blast through non-league action
Brett Levy led the Scotts Valley baseball team (11-10) to back-to-back victories over South San Francisco and Burlingame high schools in non-league action.
Levy blasted a second inning grand slam against South San Francisco in the Falcons 8-7 on April 23 win and a two run scoring double in the first inning against Burlingame to lead the charge in the 4-2 win over Burlingame on Monday, April 25.
Brenny Hillan earned the win against Burlingame, throwing four innings and allowing two unearned runs and Jake Duncan earned the win for the Falcons over South San Francisco.
Scotts Valley then won a 14-8 scoring extravaganza over the visiting St. Francis Sharks in Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League play on April 26. The Falcons had 14 hits and Sean Varenkamp earned the win. At the plate Varenkamp went 4for-4 with two runs. Brett Levy went 3-for-4 with another homer and two runs for the Falcons (11-10 overall, 5-4 in league play) and Abe Alvarez went 2-for-3 with three runs.
SLV rec softball seeks board members
SLV Girls Softball Recreation League is in need of new board members.
A number of board positions are opening up for the 2012 season.
Nominations for board positions can to be submitted during the next SLVGS board meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 10 at Boulder Creek Round Table Pizza, 13200 Highway 9. Board positions opening up include President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Umpire-in-Chief, Upper Division Rep, Lower Division Rep, and Equipment/Fields. At least four board members will not be returning next year.

Cougar softball rolls
San Lorenzo Valley High ace Kendra Salangsang threw 11 strikeouts and allowed zero runs for the Cougars as they defeated Santa Cruz 4-1 on April 26 at San Lorenzo Valley High. Salangsang also hit a home run and a triple during the strong performance. SLV, 3-3 in SCCAL play, next travel to Harbor High at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30.
