SLV alumnus plays in NFL preseason game
San Lorenzo Valley High graduate Nick Johnson had two catches for 12 yards and made a tackle in his first NFL preseason game Sunday, Aug. 12.
Johnson was signed by the St. Louis Rams as a rookie free agent out of Henderson State University. He practiced all summer with the Rams and saw his first game action in the Ram’s first preseason game, a 38-3 loss to the Andrew Luck-led Indianapolis Colts.
Johnson’s catches — the first for 5 yards and the second for 7 yards — came in the fourth quarter from rookie quarterback Austin Davis. Johnson’s tackle came after Davis threw an interception on a pass intended for another receiver.
Johnson is a 2007 San Lorenzo Valley High School graduate. He attended Cabrillo College for two years and then transferred to Henderson State, where he played two seasons.
