Falcons top Mount Madonna
Led by 12 kills and six blocks from Amber Bothman, nine kills from Shelby Kranich and 26 assists by Megan Lonhart, the Scotts Valley High School girls volleyball team defeated Mount Madonna in four sets on October 8.
Megan Miller and Mikayla Fish each had two aces and Miller added five digs in the 25-23, 25-21, 23-25, and 25-16 victory.
Scotts Valley improved to 6-5 overall including 3-5 in league play.
Falcon girls win in the pool
Meredith Barton scored four goals and Grace Ransler three as the Scotts Valley girls water polo team topped Harbor 7-4 on Tuesday, Oct. 8. Harbor went up early 3-1, but Scotts Valley scored six consecutive goals though the first, second and third quarters to put the game out of reach.
The Falcons improved to 4-5 in league and 5-8 overall.
SLV alumni golf tournament approaches
The San Lorenzo Valley High School Alumni Association’s annual golf tournament seeks participants for the Friday, Oct. 18 event.
The tournament will take place at Boulder Creek Golf and Country Club at 12:30 p.m. Following the tournament, dinner and a silent auction will take place at 6 p.m. at Scopazzi’s in downtown Boulder Creek.
Cost is $120 for a cart, prizes and dinner and a free pass to the SLV football game on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. at San Lorenzo Valley High School.
A dinner guest is $40. Proceeds from the tournament will go toward raising money for college scholarships for SLV graduates.

Pirates top Cougars
Despite four goals from Sam Van Pykeren, Harbor topped San Lorenzo Valley’s boys water polo team 13-11 on Tuesday, Oct. 8. The Cougars carried the lead into the fourth quarter, but Harbor scored four goals to come away with the victory. Also scoring for the Cougars included Dante Brosnahan and Kurt Fulkerson with two each, and Ryland Denny and Mateo Rocamora with one apiece. The Cougars are 3-4 in league play.
