Basketball camp planned for spring break
San Lorenzo Valley High School basketball coach Matt Meisner will direct the first FUN-damental Basketball camp during spring break at Scotts Valley High School. The camp is for players in third through eighth grades.
The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. April 5 through 9, and campers will learn the fundamentals of shooting, passing, rebounding, ball handling, defense, footwork and team play.
There will be an all-star game and awards ceremony at the end of the week.
Cost is $180 per camper, with a $20 discount for each sibling.

Scott Valley tennis rolls
Ian Howard won Feb. 23 in his No. 1 singles match, 6-3, 7-6, 7-5, as the Scotts Valley boys tennis team defeated Soquel High, 7-0, in Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League play.
The Falcons are 4-2 on the season.
Bethany softball struggles
The Bethany University softball team is 0-6 in the California Pacific Conference and 1-18 overall on the season after falling to Holy Names University, 17-0 and 6-2, in a doubleheader Saturday, March 20.
Scotts Valley baseball beats Santa Cruz
The Scotts Valley High baseball team scored six runs in the seventh and final inning to defeat Santa Cruz High, 12-9, on Tuesday, March 23.
Shane Carle hit a two-run single in the seventh and finished 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs.
The Falcons are 4-4 overall and 1-0 in SCCAL play.
Cougars swim past Falcons
The San Lorenzo Valley High boys swim team defeated Scotts Valley High, 139-13.
For Scotts Valley, Tommy D’Andrea finished second in the 100-yard freestyle in 59.06 seconds.
The Cougar girls defeated Scotts Valley, 110-71, with the teams splitting the 12 events.
Camille Huxtable won two races for SV, the 200 freestyle in 2:17.59, and the 100 backstroke in 1:11.46.
