As high school basketball season comes to an end, ScottsValleyHigh School will be celebrating the basketball players who are graduating. The annual celebration consists of a younger player giving a speech honoring a graduating player. Following each ceremony is a basketball game, this year against Santa Cruz High School. There are two Bowl games this weekend, and Santa Cruz County will host the one guaranteed to be most fun! It’s North against South this Saturday, February 6, at the 10th Annual Lions Senior Bowl at SoquelHigh School. The Lions Bowl features senior all-stars from NorthCounty high schools going up against seniors from SouthCounty high schools, and everybody is going to win!
This 2013 graduate of San LorenzoValleyHigh School has been a racer most of his life. He started at age seven with dirt bikes, and he did extremely well in races throughout the western United States. At the ages of 17 and 18, he won two pro dirt bike championships in Baja in the SCORE International Off-Road Racing series. In 2014 at age 18, Chad starting racing trucks in Baja.
On Friday, January 15, the Ed Kelly Post Season Tournament Championship game was hosted by Notre Dame Catholic School in Watsonville. The final score was Scotts Valley Middle School Dolphins (8th grade) 42 vs. Mission Hill Mavericks 40 after a triple overtime period.
It’s hard to believe that 2016 has officially arrived and that the winter sports season is now in full gear. This being the case, let’s take a moment to review the 2015 Fall Falcons’ sports season as it was certainly one to remember. Beginning in no particular order, here we go!
