San Lorenzo Valley High alumnus Nick Johnson has the arduous task of getting noticed by the National Football League scouts at the league’s Super Regional Combine in Detroit.

Both the Cougars and the Falcons are looking to improve on last years seasons as the boys golf teams take to the fairways for the 2012 season. The teams finished toward the bottom of the pack last season but plan improving this year as the younger golfers learn the finer aspects of the game.

San Lorenzo Valley Little League held its annual Opening Day celebration on Saturday, March 10. Highlights of the ceremony included key note speaker Sam Robustelli's speech and a breathtaking performance of the "Star-Spangled Banner" by sisters Sydney and Naomi Gorham. A-ball player Joshua Rudrow threw the first pitch directly into the glove of San Jose' Giants' mascot Gigante' and one lucky family won four tickets to see the San Francisco Giants play.

The San Lorenzo Valley and Scotts Valley high school swim teams are in the hunt again for the coveted Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League title.
