The silence was sincere as the flag flew high the day before Sept. 11. The somber quiet was only broken by the prevailing voice of Scotts Valley Middle School student Gianna Andrews.

In the September 9 “Cougar of the Week” advertisement on page 21, a Cougar from last year’s water polo team was featured. The Press-Banner regrets the error and will strive to live in the present, rather than the past.

Just like volleyball, the local high school water polo league has shuffled drastically in the transition from the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League to the Tri-County Athletic League. In the biggest local twist, the Scotts Valley Falcon girls have been assigned to a different-tiered league than the San Lorenzo Valley Cougars.
