In the movie “Avatar,” a powerful phrase echoes—“I see you.” It’s more than a greeting; it’s a recognition of the soul. And as the saying goes, “The eyes are the window to the soul.” But what if they are also windows to our health?
That’s the question I found myself exploring after meeting Ilsa Greatorex-Duncan at a local event. “I’m a regenerative health practitioner,” she introduced herself, then added, “If you listen to the body whisper, you’ll never have to hear it scream.” I was intrigued.
From the Stage to Healing Work
Ilsa began her career as an actress and aerial dancer, but it was through teaching dance, particularly women, that she discovered her deeper calling. She saw firsthand how many women believed they couldn’t dance, and how quickly that belief transformed with a little guidance, from “I can’t to I can.” The joy of helping others push past perceived limits lit a spark.
But while her students were finding freedom, Ilsa later began battling chronic pain. Raised holistically, her mother—a nurse practitioner and mid-wife—also practiced homeopathy. Despite eating well, her symptoms worsened. Hormonal imbalances, hip calcification and looming recommendations for surgery became her wake-up call.
Turning Pain into Purpose
Determined to heal, she dove into the study of regenerative health and earned certifications through the Regenerative Health Institute and the Health Coach Institute. In just three months of her new wellness protocol, her pain diminished and her hormonal balance improved, discovering she had something to offer others.
After her own body responded powerfully to detox and organ support, she relocated from Montana to Santa Cruz County and launched her business, Firespark Wellness (firesparkwellness.com).
What is Regenerative Health?
At its core, regenerative health is about helping the body do what it was designed to do: heal itself.
“Our modern world is full of toxic load—from our environment to diet habits—and that leads to inflammation and congestion,” Ilsa explained. “It’s like trying to take a clean bath in dirty water. You have to drain it first.”
Her approach focuses on clearing the detox pathways, especially the kidneys, gut and glands, so the body can naturally regenerate.
The Power of Iridology
Part of her intake process includes Iridology analysis, the study of the iris. It doesn’t diagnose disease, but rather assesses systemic imbalances, inherited tendencies and stress markers. The iris reflects over 28,000 neural connections tied to organs and systems, providing a non-invasive map of your inner terrain.
Ilsa’s services include:
• A free 30-minute consultation;
• Two comprehensive one-hour assessments: one for intake and one for Iridology analysis; and
• Personalized guidance for supporting hormonal imbalances, lymphatic health and autoimmune challenges.
Many of her clients come from hormonal issues, chronic pain, sleep challenges or autoimmune conditions; including reproductive, pregnancy and postpartum conditions. Many experience improvements within three to six months, and her programs vary.
Regeneration is Real
According to the National Institute of Health and Harvard Medical School:
• Skin cells renew every 27 days;
• Red blood cells regenerate every 120 days;
• Liver cells turn over in five months; and
• Your gut lining renews in under a week.
Your body is always regenerating—so why not support it?
