Police are looking for a man who robbed Jamba Juice in Scotts Valley at gunpoint on Monday evening.
The robbery took place at 6:15 p.m. when a man — described by a store employee as approximately 20 to 25 years old, unshaven with short, dark hair wearing a black sweatshirt and blue jeans – pulled a ski mask over his head showed a small handgun and demanded money from the clerk before fleeing.
“We do have video of it and we’re giving it to the police,” Jamba Juice store manager Joshua Rodriguez said.
Store employee Ryan Borella saw the man outside the store while he was taking a 10-minute break.
Soon after going back to work, the man walked in, pulled a ski mask over his head and revealed a gun.
“I could tell he was an amateur because the gun was stuck in his pocket and he couldn’t get it out,” Borella said.
There were two employees at the shop at the time of the robbery. The perpetrator emptied three of the cash drawers into a bag and then ran from the store. The amount of money taken has not been disclosed.
Borella said the man had a raspy voice and was swearing the whole time, but did wait until there were no children in the parking lot before entering the store.
The Scotts Valley Police Department is investigating the robbery and asks that anyone with information call 440-5670.
