As February draws to a close, several teams from Scotts Valley and San Lorenzo Valley high schools are headed to playoff competition in the Central Coast Section.
Scotts Valley Girls’ Soccer
The No. 2-seeded Falcon girls automatically qualified for the CCS Division III quarterfinals with their second-place run in the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League play, which ended last Thursday with a 2-0 loss to first-place Aptos High.
Scotts Valley will play Sacred Heart Cathedral on Saturday, Feb. 28, but will do so without their leading scorer, SCCAL All-League Offensive Player of the Year Brittany Cartee, who was lost to a knee injury in last week’s game against Aptos.
“It’s just one game, we’re just going to have to play our best ball,” said Head Coach Art Munoz. “Everybody’s going to have to step their game up and we’ll be fine.”
Scotts Valley Girls’ Basketball
The No. 4-seeded Scotts Valley girls will face off against No. 5 Sacred Heart Cathedral on Friday, Feb. 27 in the CCS Open Division quarterfinals. The game is set to take place at 5:30 p.m. at Oak Grove High School in San Jose.
SLV Boys’ Basketball
The No. 8-ranked Cougars will face off against No. 9-seeded Carmel at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26 in the Division IV playoff opener. The game will be held on SLV’s home turf.
Scotts Valley Boys’ Basketball
