Comments at the April 20 meeting of the San Lorenzo Valley Water District
Board President Gene Radcliffe
I do not want to have this debate in the paper. I want to have the debate person-to-person. I am really concerned that our committee member, while this conversation was still going on – no decision had been made, no vote had been taken – that this conversation was taken to the media.
Richard Moran, citizen

Director Margaret Bruce
When that item was reported to committee, we had an opportunity to share our thoughts with the public, with each other, in a thoughtful deliberative way, and hear everyone’s perspective, emotional and scientific, with equal regard. And, by taking it out of the context of a committee and then a board conversation, you catapulted what could be – could have been, and might still be – a thoughtful conversation, into a whirlwind, and your statements were misleading and aggravating.
Moran: How was I misleading?
Bruce: By saying we are going to be spraying…
Moran: I never said that. You show me where I said that, said spraying, you show me where I said spraying.
Radcliffe gavel several times.
Bruce: If you don’t lower your voice, I am going to ask that you be removed from the room. Please listen. We want to have a conversation where all voices can be heard. Not in a petulant way, Mr. Moran.
Moran: Don’t lecture me.

District Manager Brian Lee:
“He (Bruce Holloway, successful plaintiff in the Terry Vierra conflict-of-interest lawsuit) is really nothing more than a thief.”
Later in the meeting, Lee said:
“I would like to publicly apologize to Mr. Holloway for my comments. I started off with a statement that quickly went south, and I knew I was wrong-headed the minute I started, and I’m sorry.”
