Emergency personnel investigate a motorcycle accident on Granite Creek Road that resulted in a fatality this afternoon.

A 71-year-old motorcyclist was killed Wednesday afternoon after a head-on collision with a large truck on Granite Creek Road in Scotts Valley.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Leland Adkins, the motorcyclist was a Los Gatos resident and had been traveling southbound on Granite Creek Road, just south of Blair Ranch Road, when he collided with a 2005 Ford F250 that was traveling northbound.
The man was thrown from the motorcycle, Adkins said, and fell approximately 15 feet down an embankment, where he was pronounced dead upon rescue crews’ arrival.
Adkins said that there would be an investigation into the cause of the accident and it was unclear which vehicle had crossed the double-yellow line in the roadway.
The driver of the Ford, a 43-year-old Santa Cruz man, was uninjured.
