Construction site of the future Lexington Hotel on Scotts Valley Drive in Scotts Valley.

Wondering what is being built on Scotts Valley Drive between Scotts Valley Sprinkler & Pipe Supply and Scotts Valley Car Wash? It is the 128-room upscale Lexington Hotel.
Lexington Hotel developer Anatol Shliapnikoff and his family have been in the hotel business since 1973 when they bought the Best Western in San Jose. At the present time he owns a hotel in Merced, the town where he lives, and another one in Clovis, California.
About ten years ago he decided to buy the ScottsValley property and build a hotel simply because he likes ScottsValley. “It is a beautiful setting and it is a NorthMontereyBay destination being close to Santa Cruz, the Pacific Ocean, Capitola and other places,” he says. “In 10-15 minutes you can be at the Beach Boardwalk.”
Originally called the Holiday Inn Express, the name was changed to Lexington Hotel. It will be an upscale, 3-story, “green” hotel with a swimming pool, landscaped grounds, and underground as well as surface parking. The total square footage is 70,030, with the hotel taking up 24,727 square feet of that figure.
Shliapnikoff hopes to have the hotel completed and open for business by June 2016.
